Who we are
I'm Joe, a husband and father of two beautiful girls, and a man who has spent most of his adult life chasing things other people were content to leave buried. Fun!
Buried Expectations began as a YouTube channel for treasure hunting friends who loved the Superstition Mountains but didn't live anywhere near them. I spent years out in and around that country following Knights of the Golden Circle markers, Apache strongholds, Spanish trails and lost mine legends, and I'm still the youngest member of Bob Brewer's KGC research team. I've climbed the Jaguar Warrior initiation temple at Malinalco and handled recovered artifacts in the vault at the Arizona History Museum. The longer I followed those trails though, the more the symbols on the rocks looked like the ones I had learned in Lodge, the more I suspected that the real treasure the old orders guarded might be something more than gold.
So these days the hunt runs on two tracks. I still chase the caches and the lost mine stories, but I read the markers differently now too, since the men who left them were often working from the same symbols I see in Lodge. As a 32 degree Freemason, Masonic Knight Templar, and a contributing author to the Knight Templar Magazine I have been pulled further down that second road, toward sacred geometry, the old initiatic teachings, and the question of what the builders were really trying to pass along.
I write under my own name and under no Grand Lodge's authority. Everything here is my own meanderings and convictions and not necessarily representative of anyone but me.
